I've been dealing with depression and suicidal thoughts for nearly a decade now.

I've been through numerous therapists and have been seeing my current one for almost a year now.

First if all you need to speak to your GP. This is all confidential, your family will only know if you tell them. You need to be open and honest with the GP, tell them about your self harm and suicidal thoughts. I have never been threatened with any sort of psyc ward. But I suppose it would depend how bad things are? If your suicidal thoughts are only that, and you haven't made any actual plans or any attempts at suicide, then you won't be taken to a ward as far as I'm aware.

After speaking to your GP, they may offer some medication/anti depressants such as sertraline. They may also ask if you would like a referral for therapy. (If they don't ask you. Make sure you bring it up to them). Unfortunately, referral to therapy is different under every council in the UK. Some, the GP will do the referral for you. Others you will have to self refer. In that case the GP should give you a website or a phone number for you to do this. Once referred by the GP or yourself, you will usually hear from someone within a week or so to Have a thorough discussion of your needs so they can find the right type of therapy and therapist for you. Unfortunately, the next part is a waiting game. Again depending on your council there could be a waiting list of several months before you get to speak to an actual therapist. You are usually offered a choice of video call therapy or in person therapy by the way. So pick what suits you.

I don't know if you are male or female, but there are likly some local support groups in your area targeted at either group. Go onto your app/play store and search for an app called Hub of Hope. That can help you find local support services.

Also, if you have access to private medical cover such as Bupa, therapy may be covered in that. You will need GP referral to provide to Bupa, but they will be able to get you speaking to a therapist within about 1 to 2 weeks of sending your referral.

If you need to ask anymore please feel free to message me.

Basically. On the attached image. You can see that when there isn't a link or a pic attached to a post, the voting buttons will shift to the right.

When there is a link/pic the buttons are moved left toward the centre.

Can they be permanently set into the centre? It irritating when they move and I don't realise it an end up saving something instead of voting.

Thank you

Great thanks. This shows both who has blocked an instance and who that same instance is blocking.

That's how I have experienced it.

As title. Whenever I make a comment/reply. The screen will go black after I press the arrow button on the top right. I then have to kill and reopen the app. The comment/reply will have been posted successfully at least.

Can't seem to make posts using this app. Can male comments without issue. But when trying to make posts its just does nothing. Having to use another app (Jerboa) to post this.

So back on the old site you could write /r/NameOfSub. And it would allow other to click it to take them there. How do we do that in Lemmy? Thank you.

I got my RiF golden platinum working again by using revanced manager and a guide to patch in my own api key. I can still view NSFW content on it too. Not sure if it will stop eventually. But works right now. I only wanted to keep it for the NSFW stuff as lemmy is only just starting in that department. Been refusing to use it for general browsing though. Trying to stick with lemmy.

I've tried Jerboa. It feel basic but seems to be the inky one that actually shows decent search results when searching for communities. But it have a simple UI which is nice to me.

Wefwef. I hated it, but I am an android user who use to use RiF, this is nothing like it and it put me off. I can only fit like 2 post on the screen when scrolling. Way too much wated space

Liftoff. Don't like the UI, feels like everything is a little too big. There is too much wasted space again.

Connect for Lemmy. This is my go to and daily driver now. Its so quite similar to RiF if you tweek some of the settings. Can fit way more posts onto my screen at once. Has more customisation/functionality then Jerboa.

Think it's the recommended age for a user mate. 4 years or older. Like age restrictions om movies and video games

Sometimes I will read a post and then save/bookmark it to go back to at a later date. But if hide read posts is enabled, you can't see those posts in your saved section/folder. You have disable hide read posts.

I feel your pain friend.

A little off topic, but I was also a RiF user and wanted a rif like experience for a lemmy. So far I've tried Jerboa for Lemmy (don't really like that one) and wefwef (it's OK, but not RiF like). I've started using Connect for Lemmy and when you change the settings to reverse list view, it's very similar to RiF. Might be worth checking out.

I'm not sure of the time needed for it to revert. But I haven't closed the app. Only gone back to my home screen and used other apps. So it's still open in the background.

The setting will still show that reverse list view is selected. But will show normal list view. You have to select a different view and save it, ten select reverse list view again and save that for it to show the reverse list view.

Everything he says is true. Spez doesn't care about any of the community. And won't just be him. Sure he is the CEO, but it won't just be his decision to treat the community and mods as trash.

I've been on reddit once since the blackout. And that was to read an old post that answered a tech question I had.

I have zero intention of returning to reddit as a frequent user unless they resolve this shit.

But once lemmy and others have become bigger. I won't need to visit reddit anymore.

I just hope the big subs that are still privet and restricted remain so.

[-] Vormital@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Pure guess work from me, but I assume reddit could just roll back and restore a nuked sub from backups? Maybe lose a few hours to a days worth of posts?

[-] Vormital@lemmy.world 11 points 1 year ago

Hopefully more subs will follow r/videos lead. They have planned to go offline indefinitely/permanently. Although it's quite likly reddit admins will nuke the mod team and reopen it with new mods.
