Don't forget the recent decision on that baker that didn't want to make a cake for a gay couple's marriage. The SC ruled in favor of being able to decline service to LGBTQ+ people on the basis of freedom of religion and free speech. Something that could easily be abused to repress the queer community.

I don't think any of us here are pretending that things under Trump would be fine, instead we question the merits of the argument of harm reduction under Biden.

Declared the pandemic over. Removed most, if not all economic and healthcare protections for affected by the pandemic.

Still have immigrant concentration camps, just rebranded.

Billions wasted on trying to create a forever war for Russia.

Half hearted attempt to reduce college debt.

No attempts to protect abortion or LGBTQ+ rights.

Paltry environmental protection policies. Awful response to climate disasters that have gotten worse due to climate change.

I could keep going, but you get the point.

Might finally be going on a date with my crush meow-melt

Been a bit of an emotional roller coaster (and will probably be for just a bit longer lol), but she had let me know she was interested about a month ago. Asked her out about two weeks ago via text, but it was a bit last minute and I didn't get a reply. We kept talking at work, but I hadn't brought it up. Then our schedules started to drift apart a bit and last week just kinda sucked. Then this past weekend we worked together again, but I hadn't quite mustered up the courage to ask her out again. Our schedules matched up today and I went ahead and asked her out again and she said yes. Nothing quite final because the event we'd be going to is a couple weeks away, but there's a good chance our schedules will line up enough for us to gopicard-excited

The Mets. If they laugh at you it's not my fault though.

The way they tell it, you'd think everything from DW, to Fox, to Propublica, to straight up AP News articles, are all written by the same people.

Seriously, if you look into each cubicle we're in we aren't all the same personfedposting

Yeah, Killer Mike is solidly in the black capitalism = liberation camp. I'll of course still listen to his music, especially his RTJ stuff.

But anti-semitism is a completely different matter. Sad that NoName isn't really taking the criticism of featuring Jay Electronica to heart.

Not too shocked, but my mom does indeed have COVID after a couple of positive tests today. Her test a couple of days ago came back negative, but she at least put on a mask and isolated as much as possible.

Someone at work also went sick as fuck. He is out of sick days so he ended up going to work, but seemingly made no effort to ar least mask up to help protect others. He says his COVID test was negative, but that doesn't mean much.

What a great fucking timedoomer

So today I had a conversation with my co-worker, the pro-union one, about the Ukraine war and he's the first person IRL that I've been able to talk about it without them going "Putin is a maniac, heh". We talk about NATO and its role in pushing Russia towards war. I might actually be able to have reasonable political discussions with someone at workquagsire-pog-crusty

Installed Debian on my new laptop and the process was way less painful than I thought it would be. I'm not going to be using my laptop for much (just streaming video and most importantly, posting on Hexbear), but I barely had to do anything for it to work the way I wanted. I'm not exactly a beginner, I've been using linux since about 2006-07 with Ubuntu, but I didn't really want to have to tinker and struggle to get things working.

Talking to my new coworker about the Teamsters union and how they were able to win a great new contract. He came from another union job, which is a bit more hamstrung due to certain laws. But it was a great convo. At one point he sounded hopeful/inspired by the Teamsters union's actions. So cool, even though his overall politics seem a bit iffy.

My other coworker was joined the convo later and he leans more anti-union. He mentioned how the pay increase that the Teamsters go was great. And considering his history of complaining about pay it triggered my loud union advocate/boss voice and I exclaimed "And that's why YOU need a union". Don't think I convinced him, but we had a few back and forth on certain points.
