The MAGA moderators of the huge neighborhood Facebook group for one of the precincts that showed up hard for a Democratic PSC candidate lost their minds over this.

Citing "advocacy", MAGA leaning moderators controlling the Facebook group of the overwhelmingly Democratic and liberal Atlanta neighborhood, purged messages referencing the record voting turn out for a Democratic candidate primary for the Republican dominated Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) election.

The Republican dominated Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) has come under criticism after years of rubber stamping rate hikes on residential homeowners and renters on the behalf of Georgia Power for years, while offering deep discounts to data centers and corporate customers. Georgia residents see one of the most regular, consistent rate hikes year over year of any state, and Georgia Power has been accused of aggressive policies for the continuation of fossil fuel power generation, irresponsible cost overruns on new power generation, and suppression of residential renewable programs.

This follows Georgia Power instituting a non-binding rate freeze in an apparent attempt to undermine a groundswell of public voters calling for investigation and ousting of the current PSC elected officials. Many see the measure as a temporary concession by Georgia Power to distract from potential regulation and anti-corruption action.

When criticized for their moderation abuse in the past, Ormewood Parks' moderators have summarily banned or muted members for mentioning topics such as protests, demonstrations, civil rights, racial inequality, women's rights, voter suppression, anti-authoritarianism, political corruption, anti-fascism, police/crime issues, general equality/equity, and other "progressive" topics, deeming them objectionably "controversial"

Nearly the entire left side of the Atlanta Beltline’s fabled 22-mile oval is now poured, paved, and ready to roll. That means 6.8 miles of contiguous, uninterrupted, mainline Beltline pathway has now been pieced together—the longest stretch to date—connecting neighborhoods around the loop from Huff Road in Blandtown down to Pittsburgh Yards, directly south of downtown.

It is been a slow rise, "moderating" content that they find objectionable by applying a rule against "controversy" and "policy". They get really upset if you point it out! When they get called out too much over it, they dial it back for a while, but are right back at it after they think enough time has passed.

Meanwhile wet got the Atlanta City Council taking generous "campaign finance" from business interests to make it easier to remove Atlanta's famous tree cover, which will further increase urban heating (which Southern Company / Georgia Power hasn't been shy about confessing really improves their profits). One greasy palm "washes" the other.

"Andrea Boone cast the sole vote against the measure, while Council member Michael Julian Bond abstained, expressing concern over the lack of public input."

“This is a gross failure of process unbecoming to a city of Atlanta’s stature,” said Kathryn Kolb, a conservationist who has worked on the ordinance for years. “For many properties, the recompense will effectively be less than what developers are paying today. It’s a regressive joke.”

Members of Atlanta’s Ormewood Park Facebook group, have recently found their discussions of:

  • Organizing protests
  • Requests for information regarding criminal activity
  • Woman's Rights (Abuse, Reproduction, etc)
  • Civil Rights topics
  • Corruption, fraud, or maleficence by political persons or organizations
  • General policies and actions by political persons or organizations
  • Graphics (memes, infographics, etc) referencing any of the above
  • Links to sites that may express any of the above

... and other community concerns increasingly censored by a small group of moderators shaping the conversation by blocking and removing any content they find objectionable or supportive of views deemed controversial to the growing authoritative regime.

In a move seen in similar online communities such as Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), communities are being deprived of long-standing means to coordinate resistance to increasing controls on speech, gathering and resistance.

Glad they were caught, convicted and imprisoned. Let's prosecute those that run private, for-profit prison corporations next.

Just 20 years old, talk about a life cut short. Some of my best memories were just getting started at that age. My deepest sympathies to his friends and family.

"The developers at Centennial Yards released a public statement Friday morning following the death of a 20-year-old man at one of their construction sites in downtown Atlanta. The incident happened Thursday at 327 Mitchell Street SW. Atlanta Police said the man appeared to have fallen from the 19th floor of the building. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released."

Atlanta officials have ignored our voices for too long—but we refuse to be silenced. When those in power deny us a seat at the table, we build our own. The People’s Movement Assembly is a space for our communities to come together, define public safety on our own terms, and take bold action to hold corrupt politicians accountable. This is bigger than just one city—it’s about standing up to a system that prioritizes profits and police expansion over people’s lives.

Through collective visioning and grassroots organizing, we will create community governance agreements, build powerful relationships, and mobilize to reclaim our democracy. This is about more than resistance—it’s about building the future we deserve. We are not asking for power. We are taking it back.

Now is the time to show up, speak out, and take action. Join us in shaping the movement and fighting for a city that truly represents its people!
