In September, we began accepting reservations for sub names.
Today, we are taking the next step by launching open sub creation to an initial, limited subset of users including:
some moderators of existing subs
some users who reserved sub names
some active users
subs which have been reserved can only be created by the user who reserved the name. If the subs are not created in a reasonable timeframe (likely months), then the names may be released back for other users to create.
subs which have not been reserved can be created by any user who has the ability to create subs.
Accounts which have the sub creation ability can create subs now from this page.
Following the release of sub creation, we understand that it will become high priority to promote usage of the home feed, as well as to add new filtering capabilities to the trending feed (so that users can filter subs and content types that they do not want to see).
Finally, we recommend that before creating a sub, you review the sub Naming Policy, and also be aware of the Moderating subs guidance.
