The "defense" spending is almost completely allocated to "offense". The US won't even defend it's southern border. Anyone can invade the country from the south, while the military is spending billions of dollars and spreading troops all over the world. It's like driving a tank into the city and destroying buildings to "protect your house", but leaving your house unlocked and the gate open.
