I’m glad The Guardian made an article on this. I saw a post earlier on it but wasn’t sure if it was fake clickbait. It’s hard to tell these days so I try to find a good news group also reporting on things.

“The department determined that the following programs were professional: medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, optometry, law, veterinary medicine, osteopathic medicine, podiatry, chiropractic, theology and clinical psychology. This meant that physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists and audiologist were excluded from the list.”

Theology and clinical psychology? I didn’t even know that was a career choice, let alone one I could take out a $200,000 loan for.

I said this creator was giving aid to refugees. From, not in.

The activist Rain Dove has been able to distribute aid directly to Palestinian refugees while presenting as openly queer, and did not have a negative experience. Yes there is significant stigma and suppression in that part of the world —but this is not unique to the Middle East. LGBT folks are unfortunately familiar with a certain degree of hatred against them, regardless of where they live. What matters, the common theme, is that they recognize mutual dehumanization, and have empathy and a desire to change that.

Sometimes I wonder what happened to the Gays for Trump crowd. I hope some have changed course. But the ones I’ve been able to look in on seem to be caught in the denial step.

“You people.” Bit rude, but I’ll engage. You should look into the Innocence Project. Look at some hard information as well.

Is every case mishandled? No. Does our system disproportionately favor type 1 errors (false convictions) over type 2 errors (false exonerations)? Yes.

Why did no one ever teach me this?? Did I miss this day in class? I feel so silly. This is really useful.

TBH I'm okay with folks admitting they were lied to. Just help us fix this now.
