I think you're misunderstanding them.
If you think the joke is about her appearance then yes the exact appearance matters (which would be valid, if this would be about unixsocks). The characters are what's important to me here instead.
Lain is a computer enthusiast, who is kind of a shut in (at first). The above line is out of character for her but not Misato. If you don't know these people then you wouldn't know this, even if you have perfect vision.
Alt text should describe what you're communicating, not necessarily every detail.

For Flathub there are verified apps though, which are confirmed to be by the original developer.

The government dropping bombs onto US citizens is more likely than you think: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain

Private planes were hired to drop homemade bombs on the miners. A combination of poison gas and explosive bombs left over from World War I were dropped in several locations near the towns of Jeffery, Sharples and Blair. At least one did not explode and was recovered by the miners; it was used months later to great effect as evidence for the defense during treason and murder trials. On orders from General Billy Mitchell, Army bombers from Maryland were also used for aerial surveillance.

Innovative disruptions in previously non-monetized parts of life are the life fuel of our economy.
Really excited how to see how this will innovate human interaction in the years to come!

To add what others said (like Israel making up rules for Palestine), the people of Palestine are being attacked and their infrastructure targeted. It is pretty evil to destroy the water supply and then say: "but you can't get it elsewhere :)".
I don't think this is necessarily the case here, but laws like this are often an attempt to offer the appearance of legitimacy to acts of violence (i.e. "yes we imprisoned them but they broke the law!").
