It's not like you own your Windows copy though - you are not allowed to do anything with it you want.
You have to use free - as in freedom - software, like provided by gnu.org
I'd also opt for Fedora if your device can handle it. Using Ubuntu is a bit of a headache with snaps and also Fedoras packages are newer. Fedora also has a stricter SELinux policy than Ubuntus Apparmor afaik.
Other sources says it's for .com munism though. /j
