Uninstalled the app, blackholed the domain in my Pi-hole servers, and removed the domain from my web search results on my SearxNG server. I use Wireguard from my phone when out and about, so I'm always usnig Pi-hole and SearxNG.
I've got a link to lemmy next to my reddit sync app, so I will see this every time I would have looked at reddit.
I'm just gonna delete at midnight and walk the other way. There's nothing on there I can't find from somewhere else, it'll take a while to get comfortable with that but I'll adjust.
Not avoiding yet, but I just cut my subscribed subreddits by about half. Should reduce my time there.
Reddit has a ton of useful knowledge on it, why would I avoid it? It is not just a platform to doomscroll on... As a social media platform it's as good as dead for me, but it is still a hyper forum with many worthwhile communities.
I'm sucking at it. I keep sneaking over there to check for new modmails begging to be "let in" to the subreddits etc.
I unsubscribed to every subreddit that didn’t acknowledged they’d take part of the blackout yesterday. I’ve opened the app once today and was greeted with a “Reddit is killing 3rd party apps (and itself)” post and got reminded to exit the app right away.
I just deleted/hid the Apollo app and put Mlem in the same spot in my app list. Now when my muscle memory goes to open up Reddit, I’m on lemmy instead
So is mlem just for apple? I tried searching for it and only found jerboa which I do like just fine.
