Ooh wow, I am very jealous! I want to go explore Central American forests!
These guys are a lot harder to find (and catch) while sifting through leaf litter, lol. A lot of areas in these countries are pretty accessible, though Spanish is a plus.
I found a very similar gecko (Sphaerodactylus glaucus) by the road in Quintana Roo several years ago. I tried to catch it and I thought that I succeeded because I could feel him jumping in between my hands. But when I opened my hands to take a good look I realized that the gecko had managed to jump away and left a very excited tail behind to trick me, so I couldn't get a nice photo :(
Oooo this tiny one dropped it's tail too! It sucks when that happens.
