My mind boggles at this.

  1. Netflix was already charging per screen, so there really were never any free loaders.
  2. This represents a massive price jump for most users.
  3. Now if you want to use the service on the go, you basically can't.
  4. There is a bunch of competition now

I just get so tired of everyone rolling over and taking whatever mega corporations dish out. I would have thought on a non-essential service would be easy to push back against. Clearly I was wrong. Now every other service will see this as an opportunity.

Sometimes I hate people.

And they'll just keep on raising subscription costs after that, too!

I only expect it to become worse over time...

I wish I could cancel but I can't :( it's baked into my family mobile plan.

I don't get it why people still pay for such a service. This decision was the last drop for me to stop using them. Sad to see what modern internet has become...

I wonder if they count all the free accounts that are happening as perks from things such as tmobile. My current T-Mobile plan offers a free 1 year Netflix but we canceled and won't ever pay for it again.

Meeh, I pirate anyway, so... I don't really care 🤷.

This was always going to happen. Even if this costs them more subs than they gain in the end, you would not see that at this point. The people are subscribing now while cancelled subs will only run out over the next few months.

I used to go between the US/Mexico regularly and some of the apps I used decided I was now Mexican, so I’m still signed up under Netflix Mexico. It’s cheaper that way and I can still share with my parents who live in a different city. So I’ll keep it for now until they get blocked.

I'm in the same situation, was surprised they rolled it out in the US before Mexico. I'll leave as soon as they do though.

never subscribed. always used someone else's account. didn't feel any need to since i got kicked out a few months ago. there are a lot of cheaper alternatives in the budget in India. for stuff on Netflix i can always well... but i still haven't interestingly because their output is generally bad. interestingly it is their third party catalog of European tv shows that always interested me.
