Whereas I might’ve been less generous with upvotes on Reddit, I think it’s important in these early formative stages to let others know that I appreciate their contributions. I hope it encourages growth and activity!

Absolutely, I've done more posting/commenting/upvoting in the last days than I've done on reddit in the last year.

[-] RoosterBoy@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago

Yeah, feels less like a drop in the bucket.

[-] cablepick@lemmy.cablepick.net 7 points 2 years ago

Yeah me too. It’s the only way we can make this work.

right now I am using the upvote as an "I see you, friend". its more important to me that we have interaction of any type while we try and grow this thing.

I am using the upvote as an "I see you, friend".

I absolutely love this. Lol. I never thought of it this way.

I agree. It’s more important now than ever!

I've been upvoting every comment and thread since I joined lol. Now for the first time it's actually becoming harder to keep track of them!

[-] Wistful@discuss.tchncs.de 17 points 2 years ago

I'm definitely more generous with my upvotes on here.

[-] crmsnbleyd@sopuli.xyz 17 points 2 years ago

Yep I really feel like it makes a difference

[-] ImOnADiet@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 years ago

Yes, I also use it to be able to more easily find new comments on threads

It's an interesting phenomenon. For me it really feels like in a smaller community, upvotes and comments and contributions matter a lot more

[-] DidacticDumbass@lemmy.one 10 points 2 years ago

I basically only upvote when I like something but do not want to comment.

[-] 21trillionsats@infosec.pub 8 points 2 years ago

Same haha. Let’s get this fucking party started!

[-] lemmy_steve@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 years ago

I'm upvoting everything at the moment. I want my fellow users to feel like they matter and are well received, hopefully something that will spur them on to contribute more.

Gotta keep the happy chemicals going

Yes... I've been doing that across other parts of the Fediverse like Mastodon and Pixelfed. And now Lemmy.

[-] PeefJerky@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Yes, I try to comment on posts because it’ll increase the engagement of the site and new comers wouldn’t feel that it’s empty.
