That means you're cured of the vegan curse, you can eat real food again like hamburger helper or lutefisk!

VEGAN POWERS

You mean low iron, fatigue and brain fog, right? 🀣

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 10 points 2 years ago

And yet no one is complaining about that soybean oil. Because of woke

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago
[-] bec@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 years ago

Did you know that soybean oil is the first cause of deforestation in the Amazon? It's not a story vegans would tell you though

[-] Anticorp@lemmy.world 18 points 2 years ago

I didn't. I thought cattle ranching was the number one cause, and then palm oil second.

[-] PsychologicalCannabis@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

This is exactly what I read on two different papers. One of them being this

Not a single mention of soybean oil

Edit: soy is included but still not even close to cattle ranching and the small scale farming also includeds palm oil and sugarcane

[-] tekila@lemmy.world 8 points 2 years ago

Even funnier, is that the economic driving force of the soy industry is soybean meal for animal feeds compared to soybean oil.

Based on the productivities of soybean oil and soybean meal, revenues from soybean oil and soybean meal are ~23% and ~77% respectively. Though the oil expelling process is used to produce oil, the soybean meal is actually the driving force for the whole production system.

It makes no sense to grow soybeans on land that was previously a rain forest. Soybeans require loose, well drained soil, basically the opposite of rain forest.

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Yeah, "papers", right. More like "vegan propaganda" because PETA wants to keep making soy burgers for vegans without being held accountable

[-] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 7 points 2 years ago

Will you just shut up, man?

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

As soon as being vegan is deemed illegal, I will, yes

[-] AVincentInSpace@pawb.social 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Honestly I'm more interested in the idea that you would abandon your principles as soon as the state tells you to than any of the trolling you've done so far

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Legality = morality

Illegality = immorality

It's not that deep

My source is that you said you'd shut up about being vegan if it became illegal

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

There must be a misunderstanding: I'll shut up about the horrible things vegans and PETA do when the governments makes them both illegal. Until then I will fight for my right to be a member of People Eating Tasting Animals (did you see what I did there? ;)) and to uncover the aforementioned liars

My dude, are you okay? Like, I get some vegans that have some polarizing opinions, but....hating them shouldn't be the centerpiece of your personality.

Your entire online presence seems to be entirely made up of video games and hating a lifestyle that isn't even being forced upon you.

I'm not vegan or strictly vegetarian, I have cut back on a lot of meat, mostly for environmental and dietary concerns. I don't agree with a lot of the moral framework assumed by a lot of people on this sub. But overall, it's completely harmless, and actually helps reduce a lot of the negative environmental impact of the meat industry.

Also....."Legality = morality" is complete horseshit. All the worst crimes against humanity were all justified through legal systems .The Holocaust was legal under Nazi laws, chattel slavery was legal in the american south, even the rape of Nanjing was legal according to Japanese imperial law.

Even if this absurd statement was correct, it doesn't exactly help your argument at all. If Legality = Morality, and being vegan is legal... Wouldn't that mean veganism = morality?

[-] bec@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

things are getting heated, so truth to be told this is a satirical ~~sub~~ comm, we mock vegans and non-vegans alike, but most posters should be vegans, at least we were in the sub

[-] TranscendentalEmpire@lemm.ee 1 points 2 years ago

Shouldn't satire be humourous? It just seems like adding a modifier of "circlejerk" is just a thinly veiled excuse to be a dick...

What benefit is there to pretending to be an unhinged asshole online? We already have an over abundance of those ruining every corner of the Internet.

I think you should probably ask yourself whether you are participating in actual satire, or if you just needed to give yourself an excuse to act out without feeling like an asshole.

I'm not annoyed, I'm honestly just curious about your motivations and your reasoning. No real judgement, I just think it's intriguing behavior.

It's a screenshot of a screenshot. Someone posted on the subreddit mildlyinteresting about olive oil and egg. Then someone else screenshotted that and posted it on vegancirclejerk lamenting about eggs.

Then it got acreenshotted and posted here.

So yes olive oil is vegan and no that was not the claim made by the person but I agree that it's confusing

Is it safe to inject vegetable oil into the bloodstream like this? Normally our digestive system breaks down the triglycerides into a form blood can safely carry. So I'm guessing complete triglycerides shouldn't enter the bloodstream, right?

"Veganism is a way of living that is just awesome, plus we totally get enough protein! Also, we totally get enough oral sex. Probably more than you, to be honest. Not bragging, just stating facts." - The Vegan Society

"They asked me to be careful and I was confused as to why, my b12 count has never been higher!" - John

"Dominion is horror filmmaking at its absolute finest." - IMDB"

Rules

  1. No meatflakes or meatflake Apologists

Absolutely under no circumstances are meatflakes allowed to freely participate in this community. Meatflakes/Carnists includes all persons who are not ethical vegans. We do not condone carnist coddling and hand-holding of any sort. This includes no advocating for animal deaths. The right to an animals life is non-negotiable. No advocating in favor of animal testing, death, or mass euthanasia.

  1. No Non-Leftists, Health and/or Environmental "Vegans"

Veganism is a leftist social justice movement for animal liberation. It is not a diet for your health and it is not for the human environment. This also, obviously, means No slurs/bigotry, Why would you even want to?

  1. No support of PBC

We do not condone or advocate for plant based capitalism. We will never support animal agriculture companies, or any business that exists to extract profit from vegans while funding animal exploitation. We are frustrated these businesses have infiltrated every vegan space and being represented online by ads for TVP and first world convenience food. We're not here to make food aisles bigger, this is about animal liberation. We have all had this convo already which leads us to rule 5

  1. No Debates/Serious Discussion

This is a community for memes for vegans and by vegans. There are lots of other places where you can have your debates.

  1. No Hero Worship, Influencers or Marketing

This is a community to jerk about veganism, not a place to promote your ego, new products, or embarrass yourself worshiping a YouTuber. If it is going to a good veganism related cause then message us and it will be approved at our discretion.

  1. No Meta Posting

Meta posting is usually very boring and not fit for a meme subreddit. I wish I could extend this to all the other vegan subreddits. If you really need to post meta about something with circlejerk in the name get a grip and delete your account
