Don’t do Giancarlo Esposito dirty like that!!

[-] WaxedWookie@lemmy.world 39 points 10 months ago

Sus Fing.

It's honestly sad that he still has a following - the Russian coma he was put into to get over his crippling benzo addiction while he was telling people to clean their room before worrying about external issues clearly cooked his brain.

[-] Catoblepas 20 points 10 months ago

Yeah, the whole crying at the drop of a hat thing didn’t develop until after that did it? I could be wrong, I expose myself to as little Lobster Daddy as possible, but I feel like I never heard about him having outbursts like that until after the coma.

It’d be sadder if it wasn’t entirely self inflicted.

[-] WaxedWookie@lemmy.world 18 points 10 months ago

Yeah - that was a pretty clear change post-coma (unless the coma cost him the ability to hide it).

Given his hypocrisy, dishonesty, and the agenda he was pushing, I just can't find any sympathy for him whatsoever.

Don't forget his all-meat diet.

I will take drugs to cope even though I believe that's sacrilegious.

Imagining a version of Breaking Bad where Gus spends most of it crying about young men and the chaos dragon.

Honestly would be a good bit for an abridged series.

Last chance to look at me, woke moralists.

Gus was likeable and cared for his employees. Gus, along with Jesse, were the heroes of that story.
I'd choose to have a beer with Gus over JP any day of the week

[-] infamousta@sh.itjust.works 20 points 10 months ago

Didn’t he kill an employee with a box cutter? lol

I’d still rather hang with him than JP, you’re right on that.

[-] Jaytreeman@kbin.social 9 points 10 months ago

Probably.
When Jesse was going through a time Gus offered him time off to take care of himself. When he brought Jesse and Mike through a dangerous mission, he ensured they'd get the proper medical care... His whole reason for being in that business was to destroy a ruthless family.

One of the things that made Breaking Bad interesting was that the "protagonist", Walter, was also the least sympathetic character.

[-] Jaytreeman@kbin.social 2 points 10 months ago

I remember just hating the guy in the first couple episodes too. He's the least likable protagonist I can think of
