Not attracting insects is the best part about having deep red in a headlamp. It sucks having your face attacked by 1000 june bugs

That's interesting, I wonder if green lights attract less bugs too? There have been debates on if red or green is the best for natural night vision
I wonder if green lights attract less bugs too?
google says: "The study showed that 22% of bugs were attracted to the blue spectrum, while 18% were attracted to white, 10% to yellow, 2% to red and 4.7% to green."
"green light attracts the most fish"
"results found that the green light was the most attractive to mosquitoes. There was 43.3% of all the insects collected in the green light trap. The blue light attracted 31.8%, and only 24.9% went for the incandescent traps."
Which firmware did you use?
Standard - 100% FET
Or
219 - 50% FET
Standard
Sweet! I didn't think DR would be able to handle 100% FET. I might need to build one of these!
So far, I’ve never had a problem pushing the SST-20 Deep Reds. Same with the white ones too. They hold up quite well!
Very nice pic. It had never occurred to me before that a powerful DR light was useful. I always had thought of DR as being for when you want minimal light. But now you've got me interested.
