she's right.

Twitter or what ever the fuck it is now called, is a degenerated cesspool run by a narcissistic freak with a god complex...and no you shouldn't have an account on that very platform.

I disagree. Sewers are useful and serve an important function in society. X does not.

[-] supimacat 2 points 2 years ago

X is like a clogged sewer just backing up with garbage until one day when it will explode violently. it'll be so much fun to watch

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 10 points 2 years ago

Hilarious since Paris is renowned for their sewers...

Social media in general is a sewer. X is a symptom, not a problem.

[-] ilmagico@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Remember you are saying this on social media ;)

[-] naturalgasbad@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 years ago

I'm addicted to sewage smh

[-] Ashyr@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 years ago

Sewerage fulfills an important function and not all are created equal.

I get crapping on social media, but let’s have an honest discussion involving its merits and drawbacks so that it can become better.

I echo the sentiment about Paris!

[-] nyctre@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

No way you've been there and you actually believe that. What didn't you like about it? That was actually specific to Paris, I'm not talking about stuff like "it's crowded" or "stuff is closed on Sunday"

[-] NegativeLookBehind@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago

Extremely dirty. People are assholes. Graffiti everywhere. The train to CDG felt like it went through a third world country, it goes through miles and miles of slums. There's a hotline set up for Japanese tourists who visit Paris and are so disillusioned that they need emotional support.

Bern there done that how nice Paris is depends entirely in your guide and time of stay in that shithole

Pretty sure the Mayor of Paris was referring to twitter. Lots of context clues in there.

[-] thefartographer@lemm.ee 5 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Oh yeah?! Prove it! I won't read that either!

ETA: I hope I didn't actually offend you, I was just trying to continue my joke by doubling down on ignorance. Love your photography, btw

[-] rodolfo@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

I think she knows Paris better than Twitter. Anyway, I'd agree with her nonetheless.

Pourquoi pas les deux?

[-] Burn_The_Right@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Elon: Oh yeah? Well, I'm a free-speech absolutist! So, I'm banning all of France from Twi... I mean X!

This is the best summary I could come up with:

After buying Twitter in 2022, Elon Musk laid off thousands of employees, including many who moderated content on the platform.

Rebranded as X, it has lost several major advertisers and was blasted by critics, including the White House, for not doing enough to curtail antisemitism.

"This platform and its owner intentionally exacerbates tensions and conflicts," Hidalgo said in lengthy posts in English and French, citing manipulation, disinformation, antisemitism and attacks on scientists, climatologists, women and liberals.

Hidalgo's campaign to transform Paris into a cycling capital has earned her both scorn and praise on social media over the years, with some users criticising the seemingly endless work and visually unappealing worksites under the #SaccageParis (WreckParis) hashtag.

More recently, she has come under fire for a trip to the French island of Tahiti purportedly to view a 2024 Olympics surfing site, but that opponents said did not fall under her remit and during which she visited her daughter who lives there.

X users and opposition politicians took to the #TahitiGate hashtag to lambast her over the partially taxpayer-funded trip.

The original article contains 258 words, the summary contains 177 words. Saved 31%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
