White noise? (self.zzz)
submitted 1 year ago by guildz to c/zzz

I've heard that people feel more relaxed when they hear the background of people chattering (we are really social animals lol) so that might explain why white noise it seems to be commonly needed to sleep, but is it really a universal thing?

Universally, no. I do think it has to do with sleeping conditions through childhood though. My partner needs quiet to sleep, while I enjoy lectures or poscasts.

For a single activity we do a third of our lives, there isn't much discussion or culture about sleeping (or the act of dreaming). This is a community of people who want to discuss, make memes about, or just broadcast anything about sleeping; either personally or generally.
