Hello, I was looking for software that would automatically remind me to take a break from the computer every so often. It needs to be automatic and pop up over video games. Idk if anyone had any suggestions?

Not what you might be looking for, but: I have set up my Smartwatch to remind me to take a break and get up. It then vibrates penetratingly on my wrist.

Breaktimer is free, open source and cross-platform.

Default is a reminder every 30minutues for a break, with a Snooze and Skip button. Snooze is very handy if you just wanna complete something you were in the middle of doing

Windows has this built in but I forget what it's called. It even integrates with Spotify.

Wait, does the Spotify integration pause the music so you take the break? Or put music on for “break time”? Because the latter would be really good for motivating me to get up and get a few small tasks done.

That's a good question, I haven't actually used the Spotify integration, just seen that it's an option. I know it is more to set time for focus with automatic breaks and return to focus times.

Setting different playlists for focus and break would also be really cool honestly.

I don’t have any specific recommendations but that type of software is often called a pomodoro timer, named after the Pomodoro technique. You should be able to find some good options with a quick google. 🍀

I'd love this as well

I do install an add-on for my browsers called LeechBlock that works wonders for browsing but something that can help in general would be cool too

Edit: Google Chrome add-on link

And

Firefox add-on link

I've found stretchly to be pretty good. AFAIK it's cross-platform and has a pop-up window for short breaks and longer breaks.
