Jonathan Gavalas’ family is seeking civil damages from Google for product liability. Google’s legal counsel, Wilson Sonsini, argues that Google’s AI is protected under the First Amendment of the United States Constitution as freedom of expression, and that errors in algorithms are unpredictable.

It's an extremely nonsensical claim. Freedom of expression is guaranteed, but there is no responsibility for negligence through error!
