I don't hate Israel as a concept to the degree that most people on lemmy seem to and I still call this a win. His position on Israel is totally acceptable in my opinion. He doesn't unfairly criticize it, but doesn't let it hide behind antisemitism to commit crimes (war crimes, genocide, and other less sexy violations of international law). He still calls out hamas as bad, and doesn't act like Israel isn't real.

Meanwhile the rest of his policies seem pretty good. Hopefully he can beat the republican!

As an aside though... Is it just me or does his photo on wikipedia look like "egyptian Zelenskyy"?

Wow such a small difference. Glad Abdul won but it is so shameful that that much american voted for a witch saying a foreign country that commit genocide is coming to her dream

True, but there are 2 things at play that kinda make sense why it was such a small margin

Stevens campaign was DUMPING money into ads that was doing all kinds of shady shit from leaning into Islamophobia to pretending Obama endorsed her (She even had a cardboard cutout of Obama at a rally). From what I've heard, there was a Stevens AD on TV every couple ads in Michigan lol

And, supposedly a bunch of Republicunts were voting for Stevens in the primary because MI has an open primary and they didn't have to vote for their candidate because he was running unopposed

Im certain everything will change now!

If it would change nothing, AIPAC wouldn't have spent 60 million dollars to try and change the result

Most people try to hide the fact that they are assholes, but you are out here embracing it loud and proud! Keep on cunting on, pal

How were each polling respectively against the GOP candidate? Is this race more winnable now?

[-] cm0002@lemy.lol 1 points 3 days ago

From what I remember there were some polls showing Stevens was in the lead and Abdul under, but they were campaign polls so sus

The last respectable poll I saw from a week ago showed Abdul +5 in a matchup against Rogers
