The general consensus seems to be that the knowledge that these communities work in is hard-fought and the use of LLMs is a form of missing the point entirely. In these communities (keep in mind that there is an implicit “not all…” throughout) the process of mastering a difficult field itself is the product, and something that runs is generally a nice-to-have.
This has always been my suspicion about why Lemmy hates AI so much. It's like most seem to be angry that the knowledge that they had to "work for" is now freely available to the masses.
Kind like they don't want the "normies" to see what's going on behind the curtain. Obviously not everyone who is against AI thinks like this, but I sure do get the feeling that most of the haters I come across feel that way.
