IANAL, but I’m fairly sure the plaintiff in a criminal case is the government prosecuting the crime. And, if anybody is found guilty in criminal cases, it’s the defendant. 🤷‍♂️

In civil court, you have a plaintiff vs a respondent. In criminal court, you have the government (the prosecution) vs a defendant. Even as the victim of a crime, the government does the suing in your stead in criminal law in statesia. I don't do family. Judge probably just calls them both hey stupid
