I wonder which Americans made the most money off this war.

I wonder which Russians benefit the most of your post.

I should elaborate, I mean the American elite. Not everyday Americans.

I'm British, I can imagine there's quite a lot of aristocrats here who've profited too.

I'm bored of war. It's just a money making machine for the rich.

And do you think surrendering Ukraine to the Russians would lead to less war?

[-] ms_lane@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

They're British. They're used to being the big bullies against the Irish and stealing their land.

Less war? There hasn't been less war in 3500 years. I don't see why there'd be any less now.

Probably the ones who are best buddies with Putin, like Trump.

Do you mean people producing and selling weapons and other military specialized stuff?

[-] IPeaceInYourFace@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I do. War is very profitable.

The only cards Russia has left to play is crualty, they're clearly being out matched in all other regards.

Every single country at war does this. My country, the US, "illegally" executed helpless people on alleged drug boats earlier this year. I put "illegally" in air quotes because it doesn't seem like international law actually exists anymore.

It's part of war, always has, and always will be.

Most countries don't execute POWs because they don't want the other side to execute theirs.

Russia does not care if you execute their POWs.

Modern day America is an exception, because they are rapidly aligning with and mimicking authoritarian countries like Russia and China, and attacking free countries like western Europe.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

They don't present the appearance to have executed POW's, surely, which is understandable. That's what black sites are for.

[-] yucandu@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Stop trying to normalize this, it isn't normal.

[-] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I'm not normalizing anything. Just pointing out that, while we like to pretend there's some kind of veneer of civility and convention around war, that no such thing exists in reality.

Believe me, if I had any power to make lasting change with how our species likes to destroy itself, things would be very different.

Not all countries. This is pro Russian reductive language. US drug boats were not POAs. Not saying this makes sense, but your post is to make people lose hope.
