Not necessarily. The Mastodon post has the link within, but not vice versa. Yes, you're skipping straight to the meat of it, but it's kinda nice to have a dumbed down version for casuals like me.
OP seems to be same person as the OP of the Mastodon post. I think it would a lot more clear to copy the content of the Mastodon post over to this Lemmy post, and have a link directly to the FSF article.
I think if he @ the community his post text would also show up here directly.
That might merge in Mastodon replies as comments though, so if he wanted to keep his social mediums separate that might be a reason not to.
