They still kill unionists and whistle blowers to this day without consequences. I would not be surprised if these people appear on the CIA weekly kill list.
In the USA, every single blue collar worker should remove their thin blue line stickers and flags. When it boils down to the police, they are there to protect the property owned by the upper class.
This was absolutely my reaction as a kid and it took me entirely too long to finally truly understand.
Not just the strikers, their families, too, including children and infants.

Animal abuse is illegal (unless its done en masse in factory farms)
Murder is illegal (unless its done in mass by a president)

- Hatred of immigrants means that locals are less inclined to care about exploitation of immigrants;
- Governments can legally enslave people by imprisoning them, and forcing them to work for corpos for practically no pay. This is the current boom industry in the United States.
As usual business creates the problem and then blames it on the government. Everyone hates the government but business is calling the shots.
