They were the original anti fascists! I cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for that generation taking out Nazis and Imperial Japan. They really did us a massive favor. Now we need a new generation to take out the Neo Nazis and Neo confederates!

The model you’re looking for isn’t US GIs. You’re not in a situation where you use full scale industrial military combat against the power of a state from the outside.

You are looking for resistance to a fascist state from within. Your inspiration should be the Italian partisans, the French resistance, the Spanish communists.
