Not exactly but sort of. What I have done is buy a moderately priced desk chair and then upgrade the cylinder and the wheels to much nicer ones. Makes a world of different.
I can't recommend upgrading the wheels enough! The default wheels on Office chairs are garbage. I upgraded to the roller blade style wheels and now I get to complain that my chair is TOO easy to roll!
It’s because the default wheels are made for rolling on office carpet. The super tight weave with zero pad underneath (usually using carpet tiles that can be easily replaced in the event of stains), which is the go-to for corporate settings. It sucks to roll on anything besides that, because the wheels aren’t designed for it.
Interesting, I see. I want to pick all the parts and combine them. Cylinder you mean the one thats stands up in the middle right?

Yes they come in different lengths (and strengths) and I wanted a taller one because I'm tall.
Messed with my chair a fair bit. In terms of getting value for money, building one would probably not be so great. The parts add up quickly, so you usually won't end up paying less to build than to buy. Best bet is to look for a thrift shop find and maybe upgrade/repair over time.
The most annoying part is how often you go to look for a chair you liked and find out they don't make it anymore.
kinda.. had to take off the armrests for my shoulder but the back was connected through them so I ended up using some L shaped parts cut out of furniture to rebuild it.. looked like shit but it worked.
Thought of it, even an adjustable height desk with air cylinder support. Went with the Staples Hyken chair, and a monoprice electric desk (bring our own top). Happy enough.
Otherwise many chair bases are interchangeable though not-all, Frankenstein chair is possible.
Will be keen to see the tutorial and results of this.
With a quick search I found wheels and the iron circle thing, but I need to find a seat. Will have to ask and do some re.
Do you have an ideal? Are you looking for comfort? Or style say a gaming seat or a retro swivel type thing?
Looking for comfort to stylish?. Something similar to the middle one.
The high back with the wings is a fairly newish design say maybe in the last 6 years on so. Not sure where you might get that.
The thrift shop is your friend. You can often find pretty good gently used desk chairs cheap.
I'm Not in USA, but still there some places I can search tho. There are stores online that sell wheels and other parts, but I need the seat.
