Looking to replace ISP's default fibre modem connected router and two Eero 6s (with ethernet / EoP backhaul).

Looking to get an openwrt compatible router and some sort of access point connected via ethernet over power. £200 would be my max price for router.

Is it still too early to look at WiFi 7 ?

Was tempted by Flint 3 but missed pre order discount, however could not figure what would be a good access point to go with it to offer clean handover like the eeros have.

Want pretty simple life once setup, don't feel like I have the energy these days to tinker.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome, thank you.

I looked into WiFi 7 a few months ago, doesn't seem ready for OpenWRT.

I got a Cudy WR3000 and a couple of M3000s, and they've been great. The manufacturer provides OpenWRT images to flash, and the coverage is great. And they have PoE access points available as well. Tried with both a wireless and wired backhaul.

That is the sense I got from the WiFi 7 stuff I read but wanted to check.

Thank you for suggestion, will have a look.

I feel like Wi-Fi 7 in general isn't ready, at least in my home it's not worth it to me. Yet. But then, I'm still on 5, so 🤷‍♂️

I run two AC-1304's in my house. My connection is only 500megabit. Works fine for my needs 🤷‍♂️

MikroTik router with unifi APs. Rock solid and fast.

Wouldn’t get too hung up on openwrt, it was good for its day but there are far better options now.
