This could be about anything not just job listings. Pretty much everything you do electronically harvests your data. I don't think there are many areas you can participate in society without having your info reaped.

With jobs, they get better data. I give fake names, DOB, addresses etc to everything I have to sign up for... except for government stuff, and job applications

My local supermarket asks for access to all your personal information in perpituity for the rest of time, for any purpose, just to apply. It is part of a very large chain.
