You can still run electron apps on Linux, such as Element, the matrix client.

I've seen this behavior for the last 20 years. Every release of Windows claims it's the fastest yet. And in 3-5 years everybody hates how slow they and demand new computers. Its funny because, it's just accepted. Everybody assumes that computers get old and slow. I'm just going to go out on a limb and say, Windows OS gets slow after 3-5 years and it's planned obsolescence from Microsoft. Sadly, 90% of users can't be bothered to care that they're getting ripped off.
