Whether he agrees or disagrees, it won't make a difference.

"unacceptable" is too weak of a word to describe this.

It's unacceptable to be late for your appointments.

It's unacceptable to swear in front of small kids.

It's unacceptable to be disrespectful.

Wiping out a whole nation in a genocide is abhorrent, repugnant and unconscionable.

Grow some balls Pope. Be like Jesus when he rampaged and destroyed the market place.

Then excommunicate Trumps VP, or at least threaten to do it.

[-] ragas@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 hours ago

Trump probably isn't even part of the catholic church so he can't excommunicate him.

[-] ytg@sopuli.xyz 8 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

I think the comment was about Vance

[-] Wilco@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 hours ago

Yea, I know Vance wrote a book about his catholic conversion.

If JD were to put a bullet in Trump's head, he'd be pardoned by the next president for saving the planet.

[-] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 57 minutes ago

Wouldn't that be JD himself?

What's more worrying is that nobody else is saying it.

Sure it's a horrible regime but they're not the only ones going to be suffering

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 7 points 8 hours ago

also to note, its a regime that is result of UK/US installing the shah and then the islamic revolution happened, so its pretty much the fault of the US AND UK.

I am surprised a lot of people think that being a "horrible regime" justifies genocide. Is this train of thought human at all? Because the Iranians are not going around bombing civilians in other countries.

[-] LincolnsDogFido@lemmy.zip 5 points 11 hours ago

Uhhh.....what? They absolutely are. Have you missed the whole Ukrainian war thing? Still nothing justifies genocide and this is all to placate a war hungry megalomaniac with pedophilic obsessions. But Iran has undeniably contributed heavily to Ukrainian civilian deaths via Shahed drone production.

[-] Helloooo@lemmy.world 6 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Ukraine also participated in iraq war along with usa which killed a million iraqi civilians , ukraine prior to russian war supplied weapons to many african countries which commited human right violations aganist people of other countries and their own people, does that mean war on ukraine is justified. Similarly iran government supported russia by providing shaheed drones doens't justify usa/israel bombing in iran and killing innocent civilians

Similarly iran government supported russia by providing shaheed drones doens't justify usa/israel bombing in iran and killing innocent civilians

Yeah, no shit Sherlock. That's not the argument. The point of contention was the claim that Iran doesn't kill foreign civilians.

[-] DontTreadOnBigfoot@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

If you're really surprised, you haven't been paying attention to the last several centuries of human history...

[-] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 11 points 15 hours ago

I think that there are a lot of ghouls out there trying to use moral relativism to justify mass murder. My answer to them is "We destroyed the nazis for a reason"

[-] Mac@mander.xyz 1 points 10 hours ago

We destroyed the Nazis

Did we?

[-] DontTreadOnBigfoot@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

Us and the Soviets

But only after the other European allies paid the price in blood to hold them for as long as possible.

[-] LeonineAlpha@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 hours ago

Then the US HIRED nazis, for example the

"I aim for the moon, but sometimes I hit London" Crew

Those guys later went on to work for Eti Amin (Congo Space Race!)

And they built Gadahfis bunkers...

So thanks for employing the Nazis USA

When the pope is spitting more facts than the news. What a time to be alive.

[-] sexy_peach@feddit.org 11 points 15 hours ago

Too bad the pope can't enforce his will

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Not in a way you'd expect, at least.

Somebody stole the Holy H-Bomb of Antioch. A team of Vatican operatives is dispatched to find it before the story hits the press. Reporters pull some threads and start taking rumors of the heist a little more seriously by the time the bomb is located. Action scene on a ship in bad weather, baddies get pulped, biblically-inspired one-liners add insult to fatal injury.

Because of details, the team has to heroically sacrifice itself to scuttle the ship (conveniently located over a deep trench or other feature to make recovery practically impossible). Cool explosion with what's left in the effects budget.

Final scenes open on a Vatican spokesperson successfully convincing a bunch of reporters that there's nothing to these crazy stories about the nuke being stolen and what a tragedy that accidental oil rig fire was. Behind closed doors, power-havers decide that the world can never know the truth and lay it on thick with a message about the power of faith.

Money please, Hollywood.

In other news, Pope Leo releases an official press release stating that he is, in fact, Catholic.
