The owners of the store at Tipton Gas Bar in Lake Cowichan, B.C., were baffled when a black bear walked in and stole a bag of gummy bears.

It's the cannibalism that concerns me the most.

The Canadian version of a Panda who eats shoots and leaves

at first, i though this was setup for a joke

then i saw the content of the post and thought it was some sort of ironic or deadpan joke

...then, coming from the "all" page, i saw the community and the link to an actual news website

Gas Station Bar? Seems like an unwise combination no?

There are multiple ways it could have misread the label there… is that the food for bears, or is it packaged berries, making it food for bears?

While what the bear did makes it a “most wanted” bear on the conservation officer’s list, I tend to look at this bear as having made the best of a bad situation. This sure beats the “natural” behaviour of killing someone’s chickens and destroying their property.

Yeah but he's on the wanted list because it's terrible behavior for a bear. He didn't even try to pay!

Wait until we see the video of that bear's parents dragging him back there by the ear to Apologize to the shopkeeper.

I thought this was a setup for a joke. What would the punchline be?

[-] charliespider@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Employee 1: Good thing it wasn't a panda

Employee 2: Why?

Employee 1: Google it

Employee 2 (finds description of panda on Google)

Panda: black and white bear, eats shoots and leaves

[-] NJA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 years ago

I clicked to see the punchline and was surprised that it's a real story

[-] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 3 points 2 years ago

He could have got the leaves for free in the forest
