As someone who was in groundbreakers, and in the Beta: Good.

It offered literally nothing new. The only voices making comments and getting involved with the community were adgitators and provacateurs, and it quickly spiraled. They claim bots, but they had real trouble wrangling the community, and most people were lurkers, even in the groundbreakers age.

The social contract with web content is broken. People aren't going to provide comments and content if it's just going to be scraped by Ai and fed back to us. That leaves only those who don't think about their words, who are most likely to share them.

My niche community was doing better though on digg than here

Crazy that after they embraced AI slop they got shut down by AI slop making the platform worthless.

It's not like everyone saw it coming and said it was an obvious grift.

That escalated fast. I am not surprised though, they were wishy-washy on a lot of things and it blew up in their face. I was also a "groundbreaker".

(Personally I have no faith, so someone who does should take over this community, dm me) They already moderated some of my comments there, no antirich comments allowed (mentioned stem cell tourism)
