Last time I saw this post I said it reminded me of this picture of a snake that was electrocuted after biting a wire, and then another snake that was electrocuted after biting the first snake.

expand

This one resonates with me more because the first snake was probably an idiot who saw the wire and thought, "I'm gonna bite that other snake." Then he died from it.

Second snake comes along, sees the first snake, has the exact same thought, then dies in the exact same way.

Except the second snake was right. But the first snake's stupidity still killed him.

well technically you don't gotta

It's just very helpful for things like mortgages and bills and stuff.

Take to the woods! Shed the things of man! Find what it means to be alive.

You don't gotta, but you gotta. Because for some reason some people decided it's not a right to have food/water/shelter, it's something you have to earn.

Because transactional relationships are easier than dealing with feelings. I guess.

From each according to their ability to each according to their need. Food, water, and shelter are needs and should be provided for unconditionally. We have the ability to fulfill these needs and not doing so is immoral. Some people are not able or willing to contribute to the collective good unless these needs have already been met, we all benefit from uplifting the destitute.

Sounds great until everyone wants a free ride, then there's no one left to peddle.

Fortunately that is not how people or societies function

So you want to say they don't have to, but they're conditioned to do it. As if.. as if you were trying to say that we live in the society
