I go to work every day with the hopes that I die horrifically directly in front of the owner and scar them for life

I find that the effort, time, and expense of treating assholes how they deserve to be treated isn't usually worth it. They don't deserve my time or thoughts.

I thought in the US, society doesn't care if kids die in school shootings, either.

[-] Cort@lemmy.world 22 points 5 days ago

Of course, but we can't have their tiny corpses blocking the roads adults use to get to work. Snow and ice is bad enough already

[-] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 2 points 5 days ago

They wouldn't care either way since kids don't bring profits to shareholders

[-] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 3 points 5 days ago

Not in the immediate future, at least. Why do you think they're getting sent to schools?

[-] rockerface@lemmy.cafe 1 points 5 days ago

That's the point I'm making! If they die before their education is finished (but after they're born - it's important), the corporate can save on the expenses!

[-] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 1 points 5 days ago

But how would corporate extract value from their labour, then?

Lay off their parents for missing one work day due to funeral

Last winter, our city had red flooding warnings, part of the city center under water and blocked to traffic. The city hall warning to not cross bridges unless absolutely necessary. And life went on as usual?! I was flabbergasted that the school closed, but not the university nor anything else.

Sometimes people die if you don't show up to work

[-] Eq0@literature.cafe 12 points 5 days ago

And sometimes the importance of your work is overstated…

[-] BootLoop@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

My work is not very important at all. But some people's are. Doctors and nurses for example.

[-] ODuffer@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Indeed, just important for the boss to make more profit...

[-] TomMasz@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

True, unless you're a cop or firefighter. But then only for a while.
