For he does not have free healthcare, in the land of the Freely Trampled.

[-] Zaphod@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 6 months ago

No country has "free" healthcare (afaik), people just have a fixed percentage amount deducted from their gross income every month.

[-] fushuan 31 points 6 months ago

Well, yeah, but if you are unemployed you still get to benefit from it for free in Spain, so it's a collectively paid free healthcare.

Kids also get to benefit from it without depending on their parents' jobs or anything.

We pay the infrastructure that we can provide free healthcare. It's free in the receiving end.

[-] fleem@piefed.zeromedia.vip 9 points 6 months ago

yeah hell yeah! thats right! i got your FIXED amount right here! I am even WILLING TO NEGOTIATE IF that covers negotiating pricing vs coverage blah blah.

THIS IS A PERFECTLY CALM CONVERSATION

Obviously everyone knows there are costs. It's free (at the point of use) but almost noone needs the brackets to be explicit. The point being that it's more efficient and you continue to get it even if you have no "gross income" because we're not monsters.

Also how many countries have a "fixed percentage" with literally no allowances or brackets. I can't think of any.

Light up another Marlboro, you'll be fine.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 6 months ago

Sometimes I get those, but it's just https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precordial_catch_syndrome

If I take a deep breath the pain increases until it suddenly stops

[-] Buddahriffic@lemmy.world 31 points 6 months ago

Lol

Cause: No one knows.

Treatment: Tell the patient to stop worrying about it.

Sums up a surprising amount of our biology

Yeah, our bodies sometimes have weird random issues, who would have guessed a flesh robot built by trial and error is fucky wucky

Other names: Texidor’s twinge

The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or take 1 psychic damage and have a disadvantage on their next attack roll

[-] redwattlebird@lemmings.world 7 points 6 months ago

Oh my god. The feeling has a name. Thank you. I had always thought it was a heart problem or a rib that popped.

[-] nek0d3r@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

SAME thanks so much!!!

[-] hoppolito@mander.xyz 4 points 6 months ago

Holyy, thanks for this. I can finally put a name to it. Was wondering with my partner for ages what sometimes suddenly befalls us, especially if we’re lying in a weird position.

[-] Ragallos@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 months ago

Now I know what to call this! Then ignore it once it goes away.

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 6 months ago

ooo, now i know the name for that pain i get in my chest cartilage ever since that car accident

[-] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

I cracked some of the cartilage of my ribs a while back as well and I'm pretty sure now suffer from bouts of recurring costochondritis, myself. Could be that. Mine is really fun, pain right over my heart and sometimes left arm pain. On top of that, I've always had health related anxiety, so it's "Don't Have a Panic Attack!" on hard mode. Or I'm slowly dying of heart failure, who knows.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 18 points 6 months ago

Also,

The mountain dew chugger doesn't concern themselves with the numb feeling in their feet.

[-] Quadhammer@lemmy.world 17 points 6 months ago

That's just the stabby cell telling you you're doing a good job

[-] sicarius@lemmy.world 15 points 6 months ago

Is this the pain that feels like a knitting needle getting rammed into your chest and only lasts for like 2 seconds but it's two second you think "Shit! I've been stabbed" and everyone around looks at you because you've Just reacted like you've been stabbed.

[-] Broadfern@lemmy.world 13 points 6 months ago

Precordial catch. More common when you’re younger but hoo boy do they hurt like a motherfucker. Fortunately they’re harmless.

[-] sicarius@lemmy.world 8 points 6 months ago

By Odins beard, thank you!
I've just been assuming someone's trying to voodoo me and almost getting there.
This is a great relief.

[-] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

It could also be voodoo. I collect hair from barber shop dumpsters to make voodoo dolls to jab from time to time having no idea who it’s tied to. I’m not the only one doing it, either, there’s a pretty active discord community for it.

[-] sicarius@lemmy.world 2 points 6 months ago

Oh great, back to square one!

Had what felt like the worst gas pain of my life. Started as indigestion feeling but slowly "resolved" down. And then resolved to the right.

Congratulations to me I had appendicitis and caught it before it burst whee.

[-] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 6 months ago

It is always a turd inside you causing the problems.
