We don’t make the bed neatly, but we do pull up the comforter because our dogs sleep in our bed during the day and I’d rather the sheets not be full of dog hair (more than they already are).
No. I let it air out instead. It's unhealthy to make beds.
I intentionally open the bedding up because that is better for people with allergies, asthma, etc. Having the sheets and blankets neatly made provides a better environment for dust mites.
This is now the reason I don't make my bed.
Nah. Part of my night routine is arranging the blankets properly.
At least pull back the topmost layer, and pick up anything touching the floor. This is hygiene for me since I've always had pets, nasty little creatures, and allergies. Also change the pillow case every few days, without waiting until time for all sheets. And I really like my linens and quilts. These were hard fought habits, took a long time of trial and error to find the weights and fabrics I like. Some born from specific experiences. White particulates falling from the ceiling when people walk around upstairs, if it's happening in the window sills, it's happening on my pillows, and my face goes there.
Grew up a duvet girly, but doing something more modular with the partner and I having different temperature preferences. My grandma had 16 pillows on her bed and slept with 1, bet her bed was clean, she outlived my mom, be like Pompom extra af.
Partner once said "I don't believe in making the bed", to which, "You've met the dog right?". When they got a big 'ol sty, they realized 1+1=2. You ever seen the fan blades? Just flinging that all over the room. The blinds?
Yes. My cat refuses to sleep on an unmade bed or any blanket that isn't neatly folded... when she's not rolling around in deer shit.
Yes. But here in Germany you usually just have one pillow and one duvet (I'm not sure if that is the correct term) per person. To make the bed, you fold over the duvet, so the bed can air out. Maybe fluff up the pillow, depending on the type of pillow. So it only takes a few seconds to do that.
No.
I tried to do this semi-loft thing on a normal apartment with 4x6's, and live in a jungle gym because that would keep me from not exercising¹ and make my 13 year old me that lives in the back of my head squeal, and I had a couple hundred dollars for lumber and some extra time, so, like, fuck it, right?
Mission accomplished, it did do all that, plus I have crazy amounts of storage per sqft, and my apartment feels like it has way more places than it should, plus the city's on a fault line and I'm pretty sure the ceiling cannot collapse on me, but it's not without terrible terrible costs. So things like making my bed are more of a challenge than they really needed to be.
Also I kind if dread the day I need to bring another woman back to my place. I'm just going to hope I turn asexual.
¹plus balance muscle groups and all sorts of good shit
Once word gets out to the larger women's community in your area that there is an available, muscularly well balanced, jungle gym owner in town, I fear your asexuality practice will become more difficult. Hopefully you know how to swim (as well as climb) so you don't drown in it.
'Larger women's community'? Why have I not heard about this? I'm pretty large.
I call mine "The Sky Bed." It has a pillow fort underneath. Don't lose hope, the sky bed's seen some rainy seasons if you know what I mean.
But yeah, those sheets are a bitch to change.
Absolutely yes bc I’m a neat freak. I don’t roll around all crazy either, so it doesn’t take long to straighten things.
