Do people actually like his movies? To me he seems like another Eli Roth. A name that makes almost exclusively trash. I'll give him this though. He has a great ability to make very interesting looking trailers. He knows how to sell. I just don't think he actually has the ability to direct a good film if his life depended on it.

Anyone disagree? What, of his movies, do you like? So far my favorite is "Not Another Teen Movie."

I think he's a wizard with a camera but can't write a coherent story to save his life.

I really liked I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House (though it may not be to everyone's taste from the looks of the relatively low score it gets on IMDb) as well as The Blackcoat's Daughter.

I don't think I've seen that one, I will definitely check it out though. I'd love for something to change my opinion of this director because every time I see one of his trailers I get super excited and then I see his name and that excitement immediately turns into disappointment.

I really enjoyed The Blackcoat's Daughter and I thought Longlegs was pretty good. Other than those two I haven't seen anything else he has directed. Overall I feel like he is a good director. I wasn't blown away by his films but I was definitely entertained throughout.

I was just telling my wife yesterday about the blackcoats daughter. I watched it a while back and then about 6 months later I watched it again, forgetting that I had already seen it. And then last week I tried watching it again -- because I had forgot I already saw it. My point is that its just one of those movies that is extremely forgettable. Not terrible though. Just not really anything special IMO.

I mean, I like Longlegs, even though a lot of people were upset by the 3rd act. I think this movie is outside of that "guilty pleasure" area. The Monkey knows what it is and does it well.

Nick Cage was great, but to me that was about it it. I just couldn't get into that movie. Regardless of the 3rd act. Haven't seen the monkey because I've just kind of written off Perkins at this point. I'm also not big on gore and senseless violence in the horror genre. Doesn't really do much for me.
