I know that she's just lying and being a piece of shit as usual.

That being said, could you not lie better? Saying that every order the president gives is lawful is such a 5 year old's understanding of how the government works. It's such a naive thing to say.

[-] LodeMike@lemmy.today 72 points 4 days ago

These people have the mental acuity of 5 year olds so no. And no offense meant to 5 year olds.

[-] shyguyblue@lemmy.world 38 points 4 days ago

You're not far off. The majority of my sperm donors siblings didn't finish high school, and are so deep in the MAGA trash, it's embarrassing to call them relatives...

Bagdad Barbie didn't get her job by being smart, that's for sure.

[-] TachyonTele@piefed.social 13 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

It ain't her looks either.
She's like the third lady down the line at a bar.

(I know it is her looks. These people just have horrible taste)

[-] Sc00ter@lemmy.zip 10 points 4 days ago

Its her loyalty.

After pence didnt carry thru jan 6 the way trump wanted, his number 1 criteria for his cronies is loyalty.

It's even more sinister than that. She is parroting Nazi propaganda written by Carl Schmitt which claims that the ultimate authority for moral and legal decision resides with the 'sovereign leader' and therefore anything that the leader decides is good and legal.

I looked for a first or second degree source to get the exact wording, but they're all paywalled behind academic journals. Behind the Bastards did a set on him

Everything Obama said was legal because... Gestures to the photo

[-] frezik 17 points 4 days ago

Lying badly is the point. They looked at 1984 as a guidebook.

Except that I think they overextended themselves. They jumped there too fast and nobody is buying it.

[-] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

unfortunately, so many people actually are buying this shit

[-] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

I know that she’s just lying and being a piece of shit as usual.

She's not though. The supreme court says the president is above the law, remember? It is impossible for him to issue an illegal order, because the law does not apply to him. Jeez, get on board with the monarchy already.

[-] snooggums@piefed.world 20 points 4 days ago

SCOTUS ruled he cannot be held accountable when he does something illegal, not that the actions themselves are legal.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

Which just goes to show what a stunning piece of shit decision it was.

[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 9 points 4 days ago

It's what fascists believe, and what fascists can do is only limited by what they're allowed to get away with. So far, that's been pretty much everything.

Remember when Nixon said that and it ended his presidency?

[-] NichEherVielleicht@feddit.org 47 points 4 days ago
[-] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 27 points 4 days ago

Don't worry, they're not. That's not going to happen.

[-] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 13 points 4 days ago

It has been the unironic goal of conservatism to make sure another Nixon won't happen by making their presidents above the law.

[-] RizzRustbolt@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago

Yeah. Nowadays it's just another section of the GOP letterhead.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago

That's why Fox News was created in the first place. All those Nixon lickers went to work there to set up propaganda for shitheads and after thirty years - BINGO

[-] Ulvain@sh.itjust.works 14 points 4 days ago

Pepperidge Farms doesn't remember, following a settlement out of court for an undisclosed amount.

[-] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago

If you're talking about the "If the President does it it's not illegal" quote, that came from an interview between Nixon and David Frost which occurred after his presidency was already over.

[-] abbiistabbii 51 points 4 days ago

Do you see that? That's the hallmark of totalitarianism: "this one man is the law".

[-] bomberesque@lemmy.world 27 points 4 days ago

"When the President does it, that means it is not illegal" - Richard Nixon 1977

I mean the courts have already determined that several orders the president has given are illegal.

Newsmax is in our shitty video rotation on our work TVs. For those that are fortunately unaware, Newsmax is bottom of the barrel conservative propaganda garbage.

They have been milking every last drop out of this video the Democrats put out encouraging service members to ignore unlawful orders as if it's blatant sedition or some sort of call for revolution. It's literally just a reminder for troops to follow the law and the fact that the magasphere is taking it as a political attack is incredibly telling.

[-] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 days ago

Prior to the Jan 6 Trump Terrorist Overthrow attempt, he was asked multiple times if he intended to have a peaceful transfer of power.

The same types of “he didn’t mean it” and “he’s the president, he can” arguments were used and then bam! He committed treason that day and most days and we all collectively clutched our pearls. Now we’re letting it happen again but in a worse way.

[-] Randomgal@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 days ago

Maybe clutching pearls and SLAMMING people in the media are completely useless.

I don't know what it is but this woman's dumb face and little smirks of arrogance send me into a fit of rage every time I see her. I would rather look at Trump's dumbass face than hers. I can't wait to never see her again.

[-] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

It's because you know she isn't demented or a sociopath (at least not at the level of der rapist). So she's just literally talking shit all day long and never faces any repercussions for it.

It's a life of disgusting hypocrisy and it's horrifying to watch.

[-] Jhex@lemmy.world 21 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

are you there yet America? or is there yet another fascist mark you need to pass before you call for a general strike or at least do a "no king" thingy on a weekday?

[-] derry@midwest.social 13 points 4 days ago

"Hi, this is America. We can't come to the phone right now. Leave your name number and country of origin so we can deport you later. K, thx, bye"

[-] AlecSadler 7 points 4 days ago

Nope, most Americans are too dumb.

[-] echodot@feddit.uk 5 points 4 days ago

There was a post on Reddit a while back where Americans tried to name as many countries on a world map as they could. Quite a few didn't even get the United States in the right location. One person labelled Brazil as the United States and the United States as Canada, Canada and Alaska were Alaska.

Jesus fucking christ every time I hear about this person i want to claw a hole in the wall and escape through it.

[-] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Not humor.

Fascism.

[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 20 points 4 days ago

Did she actually say that last line?

[-] NichEherVielleicht@feddit.org 19 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)
[-] unexposedhazard@discuss.tchncs.de 12 points 4 days ago

Well she technically said "all orders the president has given" which is different but also incorrect.

The king's order might be lawful according to his laws, but not necessarily according to the constitution?

[-] joyjoy@lemmy.zip 17 points 4 days ago

This is the same as saying God cannot be evil because he is good by nature.

[-] grue@lemmy.world 19 points 4 days ago

It's exactly that. They're literally trying to bring back "divine right of kings."

To be fair the US military has never in more than isolated cases cared whether a order is "lawful" long history of gleefully committing "crimes".

[-] webp@mander.xyz 9 points 4 days ago

In my house when we caught the dog munching on cat turds, we would say "leave it"

[-] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 4 points 3 days ago

The US fell back to Renaissance tyrannies in a heartbeat

[-] tornavish@lemmy.cafe 9 points 4 days ago

There is no confusion. The military will obey.
