The dog was running around in public with no lead, so yes, it's literally the owner's fault this happened.

How many other cases of dogs running without leads and led to an attack, that wasnt a pitbulll?

Sure, I'll concede that it's the owners' fault, absolutely. But how many peoples' deaths do we need to determine that many people can't be trusted to own pitbulls responsibly?

People are proving that they aren't going to become good dog owners. Therefore, the only way to prevent deaths is to ban pitbulls.

They can be trained though? But they should never be left off leash or with access to a child. I'd say that's true for any dog though. I think the main problem is the average pet owner isn't able to train any animal and having an untrained meat missile will always have this kind of outcome.

I'm all for banning breads, but that should happen at the breeding. If they're brought into this world, neuter and train them.

every dog breed more dangerous than a wild wolf (which are kinda shy, actually, if not hunting in a group) should be banned IMO.

Genuinely curious if there has ever been any bans on dog breeds that prevented their purchase effectively. Do you know of any?

A pitbull puppy also bit my face when I was a kid, but luckily not that bad. Do any other types of dogs do this?

Many dogs bite as a result of unregulated breeding and/or mishandling. Pitbulls are one of the stronger dog types, so their bite is more dangerous than many others. It's unfortunately the case that many pitbulls are brought into this world with the intention that they be aggressive, because many people want a big scary dog to make them feel tough.

Ban PitBulls

Dog bite severity varies by the breed of dog, and studies have found that pit bull–type dogs have both a high rate of reported bites and a high rate of severe injuries, compared to other non–pit bull–type dogs.

Pit bull–type dogs are extensively used in the United States for dogfighting, a practice that has continued despite being outlawed. Several nations and jurisdictions restrict the ownership of pit bull–type dogs through breed-specific legislation.

The sole goal for this comm is to ban pit bulls from every jurisdiction and to treat the remaining ones with respect while every caretaker follows the required safety precautions to keep everyone safe. Dog breeds with documented health issues should also be prevented from being forcibly bred into this world.

Rules:

  1. Keep it civil.

  2. No advocating for violence.

  3. No pit bull advocate gaslighting. Though good faith debates are allowed.
