Didn't Deadmau5 get too drunk recently to even fake a show at his laptop?

[-] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 26 points 3 days ago

Look, I'm a dick-stealing gnome and you gotta understand we're just trying to make a living. My cousin was cast in the new Snow White movie and then they replaced him with CG. We wouldn't be out here stealing your dicks if the gnome job market returned to normal. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a meeting with Lrrr of Planet Omicron Persei-8 who's looking to buy some errrr "human horn"

That movie was such a travesty, they filmed that movie in the dwarven capital AND USED GNOMES AS A PERSONAL FUCK YOU TOWARDS THE PROUD UNIONIZED DWARVES

That's why I won't go out to gigs anymore, to many penis stealing gnomes, Nealy lost mine watching NOFX once.

[-] HowAbt2day@futurology.today 9 points 3 days ago

NODX taken. Nice.

I think even with inflation 5 was still cheap

[-] whotookkarl@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 2 days ago

It's about $42 just from inflation not accounting for decreased spending power with many prices increasing faster than inflation itself.

Goddamn nob-gnomes ruining concerts for everyone. I mean Ticketmaster. The penis-gnomes can stay.

[-] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 days ago

I dunno. I was at an after hours once and it was packed, good vibes, the do was crushing it, and then out of nowhere a swarm of penis gnomes burst in. They must have snatched 200 dicks. I barely got out of there with my dick. So many people weren't so lucky. Penis gnomes are a menace.

Aren’t we all there to hear the music and bounce around?

Rock, DJ’s, who cares what your jam is.

Bounce around baby!

This is why so many festivals just fill up their lineups with tribute acts. People mostly want to sing and dance to songs they know. If the band is a few years old then chances are the tribute act will be more fun, because they’re mostly fans enjoying pretending to be The Stone Roses or whoever, while most artists who were famous a while back resent having to do the songs they wrote 30 years ago.

Just this summer I was talking to one of the managers at a semi-large festival. They used to always have original artists whose moment had passed, but one year the orgniser was persuaded to go with tributes. His expenditure went down to about 10%, and his takings, reviews, etc, remained the same. It’s been tributes ever since.

‘member when raves were about dancing and not about looking at a dude playing DJ Hero. It’s so weird to go to a club and just see people all look in the same direction.

Ah yes, "you must sign in to view this post"

[-] ryedaft@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 days ago

Sorry!

It's DJ Dave. Here's a video on YouTube. Is that okay? Otherwise search for Strudel and DJ Dave.

[-] FishFace@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago

Oh cool. I've seen similar stuff like extempore but not Strudel, I had no idea this would be relevant to me haha

But I never got into those environments because I was more interested in the algorithmics of melodies which doesn't seem to be as feasible as algorithmic ambient music.

[-] lepinkainen@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

It’s a video of someone using Strudel to code music

The 5$ to 100$ increase is just inflation and increased productivity values. No one cares that wages didn't follow that trend.

Also: for as long as there are enough people willing to pay the 100$, this will not change.

[-] altkey@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 days ago

Iirc ticket services helped it a lot. Having a sizeable market share they were able to rise them accross all events and venues.
