Reddit's been pretty hostile to IP and devices associated with me. I haven't interacted a lot with reddit, but when I did, I chose so because of how big the communities are (mostly TOMT and one 2000s laptop brand community).

I don't know when it all started, I probably had to wait a week after account creation, probably had to not use reddit's default username, probably didn't have to update my post as often as I did. But the matter is, I can't get shadow unbanned despite all my appeals and I don't see it as a worthwhile activity just for a one/couple of TOMT post(s) that I'm ok with not being credited for.

..p.s. and this backstory probably explains my arrival to this platform.

Nope. Not okay. Reddit WILL shoot you if you have someone post on your behalf.

Just give up on reddit. Shit ain't worth it

Welcome to Lemmy! Reddit won't get better, so now's a great time to emotionally divest from it.

Yea many people have this same problem, including me.

I went far to try to not get shadowbanned.

Downloaded a virtual machine > installed Ubuntu with all configs set to Netherlands > Only boot it when VPN to Netherlands is on > Downloaded Google Chrome > Accepted all kind of cookies I've seen > Created a new outlook email with the same IP > Created a Reddit account with SMS confirmation from Neatherlands and confirmed email.

My account lasted 5 days, I was able to post once, many people commented and upvoted, after that they removed all my posts and shadow banned my comments.

I also got a timeout of 6min between comments (more or less) since first day.

At the end it doesn't worth it. The platform is full of toxicity and AI bots, here is a much healthy place, for now at least.

They're flagging everybody, it's nearly impossible to interact there as a new user. Worst part it that it's not preventing bots, you still see a lot of AI generated posts and comments.

Reddit isn't worth it as it's now run by fascists, but if you really have to, the best way to create an account is to just use a new IP. This could just be your phone with wifi disabled. Most carriers use ipv6 now, they're not going to be able to track the rotating IPs your phone carrier assigns. Create the account with a browser you haven't used Reddit with before and let it sit for a few months. Then use it carefully. Really, not defending the gatekeeping and if anything condemning it, but just telling you how to work around it.
