The humble Luna moth (Actias luna). This is an old photo from a few years ago in June. I've only ever seen this one specimen, but I've been enchanted since. He was quite a model.

I found one of these my junior year in high school. It was on the rear door of the gym, and it was a cold morning so I carefully picked it up and it was vibrating as I brought it inside to ask my science teacher what it was.

I kept it inside until just before first class started and took it outside and set it on the far corner of the small greenhouse that the 4H students had for their agriculture class.

Beautiful animals..

That's a cool story. Thanks for sharing. For sure beautiful animals. No worry about them biting you either as they have no mouth parts.
