This will reduce Google's monopoly power in Android apps, which is the court's intention. However, the company's new goal of locking down sideloading could maintain its central role in Android software.

I never realised that f-droid was compiling from source and assumed the app devs were providing compiled binaries and saying "trust me bro". That was fine to me and I'll still want a marketplace app that gives me access to foss apps so I hope they can find an acceptable compromise.
