Hey, thats me.
For the record, the article doesn't mention anything about islam or Muslims, and the comments in the post neither, so the mods saw "homophobic attack" and went "better remove it because Islamophobia"

Ironically, very Islamophobic of the mods.
I figured they just read Lesbian as Lebanon/Lebanese and got confused.
That's really weird since it's an LGBT subreddit, so I bet the word lesbian comes up much more often than Lebanon.
According to other comments here, it's more an LGB subreddit.
I mean if you were going to guess the religion of those involved... yeah, Islam would be the one right?
Moderations pretty hard tbh, sorry your post got taken down bro.
I've heard absolute loads of homophobic BS from Christians and especially anti-trans stuff lately, so fuck off with the singling out Islam bigotry. All religious people are capable of hate, as much as they claim to be above it all (at least the ones dumb enough to openly express hate).
I agree with you that all religions are shit, but I think it's important and we should be able to point out when a specific religion is fucking us up.
In Berlin there has been a lot of homophobic attacks coming from the muslim community, especially in that area where there are a lot of them.
Maybe you were unware of that, but I think its very very likely that the attackers were muslims.
That doesn't mean that Christianity is better, nor any other religion, but do we really need to be pointing out the homophobia in the muslim religion and ALWAYS followed by and Christianity is also shitty? There are posts criticizing the homophobic and transphobic acts that Christians have been doing lately too.
In Berlin it's basically given the perpetrators were Muslims.
yes but if you read the article linked in the reddit theread anouther comment mentioned this was in Berlin-Neukölln, which is predominantly muslim and known to have issues with (esp. young men/boys) radicals opposing queer people.
The vast majority of anti-LGBT attacks in Europe, or even Germany specifically, are not Muslim.
We got sources on that?
Mods are like: hey, sorry we had to delete your post. Blame the Muslims!
Which is a load of bullshit: https://old.reddit.com/r/de/comments/16ngwke/berlin_lesbisches_paar_von_jugendlichen/
Been up an entire day with more than 1k upvotes on the German subreddit. Maybe ask what agenda your mod is trying to push there.
I'm guessing the agenda is "this is definitely going to lead to a bunch of anti-islamic discussion in the comment section, and I don't want to deal with all that (with limited mod tools)"
I'd put more blame on reddit administration than the mod who's trying to play the safe side to keep the sub in existence.
That could've been a very different and still valid response though.
To be fair, it's in German. Entirely likely whatever automated flagging the admins used on the other post isn't working on non-English ones.
Still, it's a fair thing to point out.
If it is an automated thing then you can still file an appeal, but the mods pretty clearly acted on their own accord here.
Different subs get different rules, unfortunately. The anarchism sub was constantly being threatened with being shut down if they didn't self censor stuff that was fine anywhere else in Reddit, for example.
My cultural identity is based around freedom to acknowledge reality, and this genuinely offends me to my core. Maybe acknowledging reality should be made into a religion of some sort so it can be given similar protections? What would be a good name though? Sentientness? Existence?
I wanted to make a parody religion called "the church of slitting the throat of random bystanders on the street", to make fun of doing harm and limiting the freedom of others under the name of religion. Would be also a good basis for some comedy/action-thriller movie/whatever, wgere a serial killer manages to legalize his killing spree by making it a religion.
Objectivism?
That one may be taken by people you don't want to be associated with...
How about Common Sense?
Unfortunately, common sense is often the opposite of reality.
Reddit at its best.
Wow. From r/GayBros? Srsly?
They were notoriously one of the more openly mysgonstic and "drop the t" of the queer subs. That's kinda wild honestly.
one of the more openly mysgonstic and "drop the t" of the queer subs
I was subscribed there for years and never saw a word of that...
Well I don't know what to tell you aside from seeing a lot of posts on trans subs where OP would be like
Why do gay men hate trans women? I got told by someone in a LGBTQIA+ sub that I was just a a confused gay guy?
And the comments would be filled with people guessing
"This was /GayBros wasn't it? They are like that, Gay men as a whole aren't."
I won't argue with your experience, but at minimum that sub DEFINITELY had a reputation.
you may be confusing r/GayBros for r/askgaybros. Roughly the same size and spelling, but only one of them has a strong reputation for transphobia.
Oooooh maybe! Thanks for the clarification!
They never expected the brownshirts to come for them, i guess.
That's really insidious
The post says nothing about Muslims, but please proceed to blame Muslims because mod said so.
Literally nobody in this thread is blaming Muslims. Please stop with the knee jerk reactions.
I didn't talk about people in this thread. Sorry it wasn't clear. I'm only talking about the mod
