Since the United States is in bed fully with corruption and nearly all bets are off, what do you expect to see happen between now and the next 3 years?

I expect that we will no longer be able to unsubscribe from marketing e-mails, it's just going to be spam and spam.

The IRS will no longer provide any service to help you file your taxes, free or paid. You will be forced to choose in having to pay top-dollar tax agents or agencies to do it for you.

You will pay a federal citizen traveling fee when crossing from state border to state border, so it'll be like a toll booth only now you're charged a flat fee if you're going from CA to TX for example.

The West no longer hiding that they don't actually care about the freedoms they pretend to care about and accuse socialist countries of not having. Things like freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, LGBT+ rights, democracy, you name it.

Like it's already so blatantly obvious through their actions the logical next step is they get brazen enough to just say it. Watch as the West turn into the very thing they accuse socialist "totalitarian dictatorships" of being and watch as 99% of the people either be too brainwashed or too starving to think, again, like how they accuse socialist countries of doing to silence dissent.

Since not many people have answered, I'll share mine even though it would happen outside the 3 year window.

All pollution standards will be dropped. The air will become so bad that homes will have to have active filtration and people will have to have active personal protection when they go outside. Both of these active devices will run on a subscription plan controlled by publicly owned companies. Can't pay, can't breath. The same will apply to water.

publicly owned companies

private corporations.

I was thinking that these companies would be making a lot of money and people with money would love to invest in them. This would further split people as those invested would want the companies to thrive and those that couldn't afford to invest ...

I do see how being private corporations would work too.

publicly traded is different from publicly owned. i mean the latter.

That seems impossible. Places exist where they have no meaningful air pollution standards, including major cities, and it gets really gross and bad for you, but it only kills you slowly. Air is just a big thing, hard to foul that fully.

There will probably be convergence with other shitty corrupt dictatorships, past and present. America isn't actually special.

One thing I'm watching out for is a power struggle over who succeeds Trump. And what direction they'll take things, since there will be crises that happen, and Trumpism is probably too syncretic to unify a loyal elite capable of crushing dissent. Everything from territorial expansionism to isolationaist theocracy is on the table as the new ethos, and anybody could be chosen as the main scapegoat (including Canada, unfortunately enough for me).

There was some kind of hybrid ICE-national guard riot control unit they were talking about making, which is a lot like how a new agency later known as the Gestapo started. Hyperinflationary policy is possible further down the road, as well as just pouring gas on normal inflation in the short term.

Edit: If the new regime lasts many decades, I can guess at one possible novel thing that will happen. Actual footage of Trump will end up somewhat censored, because everything about him is at odds with what you want from an ancestral state quasi-deity.

Recent figures of that kind managed at least an appearance of dignity while alive. Ancient examples didn't have to deal with being recorded at all.

Slavery's gonna be back on the menu (explicitly, and I don't mean wage slavery or prison slavery)
