Looks like grey and blue bricks.
Focus on the grey ones in the middle, or follow the colour-scheme of previous levels.

Thanks for this. I tend to avoid power ups if it means I might lose the ball. That strategy obviously isn’t a good one here :) I appreciate it very much! This is one of my favourite games so thank you again!
Glad to help.
It's been years since I've played LBreakout2. It is a solid game, and I like that it follows the style of old Amiga games.
Had no idea this existed, glad you posted :)
Welcome to the club :) I used to play it in the 90s. Then I got distracted my more flashy games. I just rediscovered it recently and I really enjoy the polish and graphics.
I don't know this breakout game, but some have bricks that are tough without being unbreakable. Hit the same brick enough times, and it eventually breaks.
In a breakout game that has upgrades, there might be an upgrade that helps you get through.
Thanks for the reply. I’ve been banging on the bricks for a good ten minutes now :) But maybe I need to hit the same one repeatedly in succession. There’s usually a graphical hint for that though.
I downloaded the game and its source code, and I have new information for you.
There is an upgrade (this game calls it an "extra") that lets the ball break through that middle column of bricks.
The extra you want looks like a ball with a lightning bolt on each side. Something like:
⚡🪩⚡
It seems to be called METAL or ENERGY BALL.
This has to be the most helpful reply I’ve ever experienced or witnessed on the internet. Thank you very much! I’ll try to restart the level. I do tend to prioritise keeping the ball in play over collecting power ups so that matches with what you’re saying. Thanks again. That must have taken some time!
Which of the levelsets is that?
I’m assuming it’s the default in LBreakout2HD. I just installed the game and started playing.
