Howdy Comrades, brothers, sisters and fellow heathens! I have a question. Is there an open source app like Migu that streams video torrents instead of downloading them? Like for more than just anime?

If you didn't know, there's an app on Droidify called Migu that streams anime torrents in real time instead of downloading them. It's awesome! De-centralyzed media!!!!

What open source software do you use for streaming media?

Technically using torrents it's always downloading but focused on leeching instead of contributing to the overall share.

It is more leeching than sharing, but if it is actually torrenting then it should also be uploading while the "stream" is playing. So kind of like PeerTube. Just really depends on both how it is setup, and how popular the video is at any time. Though it sucks that there isn't a good way to make sure connections happen.

There are lots of times that I get torrents the regular way that I would like to have uploading to other peers at the same time. But will notice that I get few to zero peers for uploading with popular files. There are times that I will leave it seeding for weeks without any uploading. So I end up deleting the torrent so I can move files or free up space because I already made a second copy to sort. Not always the case, but frustrating to not even see a few MB go to anyone. With PeerTube I see my upload working more consistently, but main issue there is just not often that I am watching something that a lot of others (or any others) are also watching.

Yeah that bothers me that it isn't giving back to the torrent itself. Just leeching to stream.

It's on f-droid droidify is just a client for f-droid, also I'm pretty sure migu streams not download and this is inspired by stremio which is the thing for other things than anime

Stremio I saw. But it didn't look open source and it had trackers listed on the aurora store. I'll check it out.

Proprietary json? Of is it some weird binary thingy?

Sorry I meant server.js, you can't self-host it.

Tnx. A shame, tho

Libretorrent for android. Just click sequential download, wait a few seconds, then open the file.

qbittorrent or deluge can also do this for desktop.

Check out Cloudstream. It requires extensions to function and some of them include torrent providers.

Bless you and thank you!!!! Getting it now. I'm also working with TorrServe Matrix now.

WebTorrent Desktop is a bit abandoned, but last time I tried it, it still worked despite some warts (I think it wouldn't work with newer Chromecasts).

My notes also have:

And you don't even provide a link to it. Shame.

Just search Migu on F-Droid/Droidify. The URL link box went away when I added the photo. I'm on thunder which is a very new app and still adding features.

Yeah, sometimes I've noticed with the Voyager app I use that I have to go back and edit the post. For some reason the URL or the associated picture disappears.

I use Kodi with Elementum plugin for this.
