In my 35 years of life, the police have never once resolved a theft or assault regarding my person or belongings. The way of the world was revealed to me about 5 or 10 years ago when I was hit by a car on my bike, the guy who hit me got out of the car and waved a gun at me, then got back in his car and drove off. When I called the police, I was told the nobody would be out to take a report from me because "there are two police officers on duty today and they are both too busy." I asked dispatch if they were trying to tell me it was a good time to rob the bank I was standing at, seeing as they clearly wouldn't have enough officers available to respond. Suddenly, an officer was magically available to take my report, but only at the station across town, in person.
In short, cops don't give a fuck about you or your property. They care exclusively about their privilege of authority and how they feel like a big boy when they strut around town.
