It would be nice to live in a country with the big political headline topic of bike lanes.

Canada conservatives, and in particular Alberta conservatives, aren't that different from American "conservatives", they're just kept on a slightly tighter leash. Though the Liberal government is doing what liberals do and turning the ratchet. The last election sacrificed the left (NDP) to prevent Peepee le-Fascist from taking over.

tbf the ndp was downhill since Jagmeet Signh took power, so I'm hopeful they'll bounce back with a better new leader.

Sadly it's part of a larger effort by the provincial government to undo any attempts at decarbonization.
